We are offering two separate courses (four sessions each) this summer to help students with disabilities prepare for employment after high school. The first course will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on June 20, June 22, June 27, and June 29. The second course will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on July 11, July 13, July 18, and July 20. The sessions will be held at the St. Joseph MERIL office.
The curriculum will contain skill-building workshops, one-on-one mentoring, and socialization activities with peers. Topics include: career exploration, building a resume, understanding the importance of first impressions during a job interview, the use of social media, self-advocacy, and developing skills to live independently through financial and household management.
The sessions are available at no cost to students who are 14-21 years old, who have an IEP or are 504 eligible, and who will not graduate this year.
