MERIL is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist who has the passion to improve the lives of individuals with a disability, is resourceful with a strong desire to make a difference.
The Communications Specialist will provide direct independent living and peer support services to individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing and those who experience communications barriers. This individual will promote the use of assistive technology to help people live independently.
In addition, this individual will provide primary information and referral services and assistance in accessing resources to those requesting services. Experience and a working knowledge of agencies and resources available and the ability to collaborate effectively with community partners is a plus.
The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively using American Sign Language and other alternate communication methods. Professional experience working with those who are deaf/hard of hearing, and experience with assistive technology and ASL certification are highly desirable. Experience with Microsoft products and computer databases is required.
A background check and drug test are required. Only non-tobacco users will be considered.

In-Home Personal Care Attendant (PCA)
MERIL is seeking PRN (as-needed) personal care attendants to provide homemaker and personal care services to people with disabilities in their homes. Duties will include light housekeeping, cooking, assistance with bathing, and other activities of daily living.
Positions are open in Andrew, Buchanan, and Nodaway counties.
Applicants must have at least six months of experience as a CNA, maid, or household worker, or have one year of experience caring for children, sick individuals, or elderly individuals. CNA certification is preferred but not required. A background check and drug screen are required.
In-Home PCAs are eligible to participate in a company-matched 401(k) retirement plan.
