IL Communications Specialist

MERIL is seeking a part-time Independent Living Communications Specialist. This position requires a dynamic individual with a passion to improve the lives of those who are aging or have a disability.

The IL Communications Specialist will be responsible for providing direct Independent Living and peer support services to individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, or those who otherwise experience communication barriers. This position will promote the use of assistive technology to help people live independently.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively using American Sign Language (ASL). A Bachelor’s degree in a social service field, professional experience working with those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, and ASL certification are required. Experience with assistive technology is highly desirable.

A background check and pre-hire drug test are required. Only non-tobacco users will be considered.

In-Home Personal Care Attendant (PCA)

MERIL is seeking PRN (as-needed) personal care attendants to provide homemaker and personal care services to people with disabilities in their homes. Duties will include light housekeeping, cooking, assistance with bathing, and other activities of daily living.

Positions are open in Andrew, Buchanan, and Nodaway counties.

Applicants must have at least six months of experience as a CNA, maid, or household worker, or have one year of experience caring for children, sick individuals, or elderly individuals. CNA certification is preferred but not required. A background check and drug screen are required.

In-Home PCAs are eligible to participate in a company-matched 401(k) retirement plan.
